EDUCATION
Teaching English and Science
Teaching English as a second language is important in a country where international tourism is the main source of income. It is important for the local populations of a community supported by tourism to learn English in order to communicate effectively with those who are their biggest source of income.
Teaching ICT
Consider yourself to be a bit a computer whiz? Here is a perfect volunteering opportunity for you! This is a very basic set up and often the computers will break and the local people are unable to fix them.
Teaching in a Basic School
Want to make a real difference? As a GHV Teacher is Ghana, you have the opportunity to help shape the lives of the future generations of these remarkably cheerful and grateful children, and assist them in breaking the cycle of poverty that without your help would be a life-long sentence.
Teaching in junior high school
Volunteers who choose to be part of this amazing program will be based in a daily drop-in centre in Ghana’s capital city Accra, and will work with secondary school aged children between 10-15 years old.

HEALTH CARE
Community Health
Medical programs in Ghana welcome volunteers with a wide range of levels of experience, including qualified medical personnel, medical students and pre-med students. Attendance on a medical volunteer project is itself a helpful preparation for a medical career, and for this reason, provided they are enthusiastic and truly eager to help in the health sector, even individuals without medical experience can be accepted.
Health Assistance
There is a high demand for volunteer nurses, doctors and health specialists in Ghana. Placements are for volunteers aged 19 and over in hospitals, health centres, on health education programs (in Schools, Communities and Universities), and in orphanages.
HIV/AIDS Program
Cooperating closely with the specialist staff working in this field, volunteers give advice on disease prevention and contribute by exchanging different methodologies with their Honduran counterparts. They also foster compassion in the community for people living with HIV/AIDS as well as giving emotional support.
Outreach

CHILD CARE
Creative Arts with Kids
Volunteers with creative flair or an interest in the arts have the chance to share their talents and teach their skills with local communities, while immersing themselves in a new creative environment with different cultural influences. Whether it’s adding a personal touch to costume design or teaching music and dance to eager learners, there’s plenty of opportunity for expression and fun.
Orphanage Work In Ghana
The program provides services for children and adolescents who have little access to social services, and come from poor families living in and around Agona Swedru in the central region. Children are provided a place to come and get basic education, some food, recreational activities and love and attention from the caring staff.
Pre-School Education
Volunteers are required in many parts of Ghana to work with pre-school children. These civilian-run kindergartens cater to children from 2 - 6 years of age. There are generally 100 children attending each kindergarten, and class sizes often range from 20 - 25 pupils. Volunteers will teach alongside local staff members and often with another volunteer in the class.

Afforestation
In developing countries like Ghana, where the precious natural resources are deteriorating, volunteers are desperately needed in environmental projects to help in various natural reserves and parks, to assist by creating ecological plans and educating locals.

Working on a Farm
The Agriculture Project in Ghana is designed for those volunteers who enjoy the more physical aspect of volunteering and don’t mind getting their hands dirty. The focus of this project is to address the difficulties facing orphanage placements in terms of providing a sustainable food source for the children.

Community Youth Sports
Sport is an amazing way of bringing people from different backgrounds and cultures together. It is not confined by boundaries or borders, it is not discriminatory, nor is it judgmental.
Sports Coaching
Volunteers with a love of sport and real enthusiasm for working with children are well suited to our Sports Teaching project in Ghana. Volunteers on this project work with young children and occasionally older Ghanaians to help develop their interest in a range of sports and increase their skill base.
Sports Development
Volunteers can assist with a community sporting program during the school holidays and after school hours. This is held at the local community field and is a way to bring the community together and teach sporting and athletic skills that the local children would otherwise not learn.

Building and Construction
In many areas of Ghana, thousands of families live in inadequate accommodation and children attend school in crumbling buildings. Our construction project allows them to move to new, better quality homes and for the children to receive an education in secure, new classrooms.
Community Development
This is an amazing grassroots project that anyone can participate in! Volunteers on this project can become involved in tree planting, sustainable gardening, water hygiene and recycling projects, and many other amazing community-based initiatives.
Women Empowerment
The government of Ghana has been doing many things to improve the lives of women in Ghana. A lot of efforts have been put in economically and politically to improve their lives. Still lot of women live in poverty and are abused/ Ghana Volunteers works to place volunteers in one of the best NGOs that work for women rights, issues, and empowerment.
Youth Empowerment
The youth empowerment aspect of Ghana Volunteers will seek to encourage and train youth to be passionate about Ghana’s development, proactive, creative, and intelligent and also act on their behalf.

Health
Medical Assistance
In this progam, volunteers will be based in a hospital, clinic or care facility, where you will initially shadow doctors and other medical staff to gain an understanding of the day to day practice of medicine in Ghana.
Public Health
GHV offers positions to work in public health, working towards better access and health awareness in several communities in Ghana. The public health team is involved in several projects, including giving educational talks at local schools on health topics including HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis, reproductive health and performing research projects on various public health topics...

Community Volunteer Programme
This Community Volunteer Programme is the heart of an ecosystem of social change where initiatives are both mutually beneficial and dependent. The approach of this project is termed ‘Adaptive Development’. We listen and learn about what the community needs and we provide tools that can be used in inspiring and unintended positive ways.
Creative Performing Art
The Kids’ Creative Art centre is based in the Ashanti region of Ghana near Kumasi. The art centre was Ideally, two volunteers will work on the project at one time. Volunteers will assist children to develop their cognitive abilities through creative methods using constructive materials, paints, clay and drawing. They will also help to keep the centre clean, teach basic English and report on daily activities to local staff.
Elementary Education
As a volunteer teaching in Ghana, you can have a huge impact and help local children develop their speaking and conversational skills. Ghanaian schools are often understaffed and poorly resourced, but you can help to improve this situation by volunteering.
